Description

Wingspan 23 - 29mm. Pale buff with darker oblique streaks and patches.

Habitat

Meadows, grasslands and rough ground. The larvae feed on grasses, often in a silken web amongst the bases of the grass stems.

Status and distribution

Fairly common and widespread in Britain, in suitable habitat, but less frequent towards the north. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

July to September.
