Description

Wingspan 34 to 38mm. An attractive, brightly marked moth in various browns and buffs.

Habitat

Grasslands and meadows. The larvae feed on various grasses and the adult moths are often seen on the flowers of Knapweed.

Status and distribution

Fairly common but mainly confined to the south and the east - much less common in the west and north. Fairly common in Nottinghamshire and recorded once at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

July to September.
