Description

Wingspan 17 - 23mm. The wings are pale brown marked with warm brown and thin white lines.

Habitat

The adults feed on nectar from a range of plants, including Hogweed. The larvae feed on the leaves and flowers of several herbaceous plants including Woundworts and Cranesbills. Hibernates as an adult until May.

Status and distribution

It is common and widespread throughout most of Britain, common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

July and September.
