Description

Over all length 9 - 11mm. A very distinctive black and red froghopper, with no confusion species.

Habitat

Woodland edge and woody hedgerows. The adults feed on sap from a wide variety plants and the nymphs feed on roots.

Status and distribution

Common and widespread through most of Britain south of the Scottish Highlands.

Best time to see

April to August.
