Description

Over all length 5 - 7mm. This insect has many, very variable, colour forms.

Habitat

Stems of ruderal plants where the nymph develops inside 'Cuckoo spit', the frothy masses found on stems and leaves.

Status and distribution

Common and widespread in Britain. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfiled Lagoons.

Best time to see

June to September.
