Description
Body length 12 - 16mm. One of the largest and brightest coloured shieldbugs. Bright apple-green with reddish-brown on the lateral extensions of the pronotum, wing cases and wing membranes. Towards winter the colour changes to a mixture of rich browns.
Habitat
Woodland edge and hedgerows. Found on Hawthorn, Dogwood, Hazel, Holly and Oak.
Status and distribution
Common and widespread in England and Wales, less common in Scotland. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best time to see
March to November.
