Description
Over all length 5 - 7mm. The face, antennae, legs and abdomen are a reddish colour with the top of the head and elytra (wing cases) dark grey.
Habitat
Woodland edge and hedgerows with rank vegetation. Adults and larvae are predators on small invertebrates.
Status and distribution
Common and widespread in England and Wales, less common in Scotland. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best time to see
May to July.
