Lily Beetle

Lilioceris lilii

Description

Over all length 6 - 8mm. The pronotum and elytra are red and the head and legs black. The elytra are punctured.

Habitat

Normally in gardens but they can be found on emergent vegetation beside ditches and ponds.

Status and distribution

Very common and widespread through much of England and Wales but less common on higher ground and in Scotland. Common in Nottinghamshire and recorded twice at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

All year.
