Paranchus albipes

Description

Over all length 6.5 to 9mm. Can be dark brown or light brown with pale borders or maroon, showing some metallic lustre. The legs and antennae are pale yellowish.

Habitat

Damp places and water margins, amongst the litter and dead vegetation beside the water's edge.

Status and distribution

Common and widespread in wetland habitats throughout Britain. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

All year.
