Description

Over all length 1.5 - 2.5mm. Pale green covered with waxy coating. They live on Plum or other Prunus species but in mid-summer some migrate to live on Common Reed Phragmites australis. This generation is also green but some may be dark red.

Habitat

Prunus trees, where they overwinter, and reed beds in late summer.

Status and distribution

Common and widely distributed in Britain. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

April to October - July to September on reeds.
