Panorpa germanica

Description

Body length 10 to 15mm. Very like Panorpa communis, but can be separated by there being three similar sized marks along the rear edge of the wing.

Habitat

Woodland margins and hedgerows where they prey on insects.

Status and distribution

Common and widespread in England and Wales with much fewer records from Scotland, mainly in the lowlands. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.
