Green Lacewing
Chrysoperla carnea
Description
Body length 11 - 12mm. This species is all green with green veins in its wings and a pale yellow line along its back. The eyes are iridescent green and red. There are several other similar species.
Habitat
Woodland, hedgerows and gardens. They prey on other small insects, especially aphids.
Status and distribution
Common and widespread throughout Britain. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best time to see
April to September.
