Description
Body length 9.5mm. A medium sized, black sawfly with clear wings with a strong stigma and reddish knees.
Habitat
Hedgerows, woodland edge and flowering meadows.The adults feed on nectar.
Status and distribution
Widespread in Britain but not recorded often. Uncommon in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best time to see
April to September.
