Description

Over all length 6 - 8mm. Most flies in this genus are very similar and therefore difficult to identify to species. They are generally reddish in colour with some faint spots on the wings.

Habitat

Damp areas beside ditches or within emergent vegetation. Their larvae are parasitoids or predators on slugs or snails.
