Long-legged Fly
Argyra perplexa
Description
Body length 6 to 7mm. The head is white with large red eyes. The thorax is shiny and metallic and the abdomen is dark with pale patches on the sides of the tergites.
Habitat
Well vegetated and damp areas beside ditches and boggy ground.
Status and distribution
Fairly widely but thinly distributed throughout Britain except in the north of Scotland. Few records for Nottinghamshire but regularly seen at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best time to see
June to September.
