House Fly
Eudasyphora cyanella
Description
Over all length 9 - 11mm. A metallic green fly looking similar to a Greenbottle. The thorax has a white collar and there are four dark stripes going from the collar backwards, fading towards the rear.
Habitat
A wide range of habitats are used and this species can be seen basking, early in the year, as it hibernates as an adult.
Status and distribution
Common and widespread throughout most of Britain. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best time to see
All year, especially April and May.
