House Fly
Phaonia tuguriorum
Description
Over all length 8mm. A well marked species which has a yellowish tip to the scutellum and two shaded cross-veins on each wing. It is often seen very early on in the year.
Habitat
Woodland, woodland edge and buildings where it can bask.
Status and distribution
Common and widespread in Britain. Common and widespread in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best time to see
February to October.
