Dung Fly
Scathophaga suilla
Description
Over all length 8 to 9mm. A very orange fly with orange antennae and red eyes. There are some very similar species but the pictures are thought to be of Scathophaga suilla.
Habitat
Woodland edge, hedgerows and meadows. The larvae feed on invertebrates in dung and the adults are predatory on other insects but also feed from flowers.

August to October
