Dark-winged Flesh Fly

Description

Over all length 6 - 8mm. A bluish-black species with dark shading towards the front of the wings.

Habitat

Woodland edge, scrub and hedgerows. The larvae develop in snails.

Status and distribution

Common and widespread in the south of England, with a few records from Wales. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

May to July.
