Description
Over all length 7mm. A pale orange, translucent fly.
Habitat
Woodland edge, hedgerows and meadows. The adults and larvae predate other small invertebrates, the larvae in the soil.
Status and distribution
Mainly restricted to the south and east of Britain with few records from Scotland, Wales or the West Country. Uncommon in Nottinghamshire and recorded once at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best time to see
April to July.
