Nephrotoma scurra

Description

Over all length 20 to 24mm. This species has a long abdomen, no dark markings on the sides or underside of the thorax and a very weak stigma, which make it fairly distinctive.

Habitat

Heaths and areas with sandy soils.

Status and distribution

Fairly common and widespread throughout the lowlands of Britain, so less common in Scotland and Wales. Local in Nottinghamshire and recorded once at Netherfield Lagoons.
