Description
Over all length of female, 2.2 to 5.8mm excluding the ovipositor. the male is slightly smaller. The head and thorax are bright, bronzy green and the abdomen can be metallic green or magenta. The legs are pale yellow.
Habitat
Woodland edge, hedgerows where it feeds on flowers such as Tansy. It lays its eggs in the galls of other wasps where their larvae parasitise the incumbent larvae.
Status and distribution
Probably under recorded in Britain. Common in Nottingham and at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best time to see
July to September.
