Cereal Fly

Opomyza germinationis

Over all length 3 - 4mm. This is a small, dull-looking fly with dark spots and leading edges to its wings. This is a family of very similar looking flies, so care needs to be taken when ascribing a species.

More open grassy sites that are damp. The larvae develop inside grass stems.
