Yellow-barred Longhorn

Nemophora degeerella

Description

Wingspan 17 - 23mm. The background colour is yellowish with the wing veins picked out in black. About one-third of the way from the wing tips there is a yellow bar, bordered with black. The antennae are at least three times as long as the closed wings.

Habitat

Damp woodland, the larvae feed on dead leaves.

Status and distribution

Common and widespread over most of England and Wales. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.

May to June.
