Twin-barred Knot

Homoeosoma sinuella

Description

Wingspan 18 to 23mm. A light brown moth with darker brown, twin-bars across its fore-wings.

Habitat

Waste ground, grassland where Plantain species grow. The larvae feed on the plants' roots.

Status and distribution

Fairly common and widespread in Wales and southern England as far north as the Humber. Fairly common in Nottinghamshire and recorded once at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

June to August.
