Description

Wingspan 22 - 28mm. The fore-wing has a distinct brown triangle mid-way along it.

Habitat

Open dry and grassy areas where Coltsfoot grows, on which the larvae feed.

Status and distribution

Fairly widespread but local throughout most of Britain but becoming scarcer towards the north. Uncommon in Nottinghamshire but recorded regularly at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

May to June. August to September.
