Description

Wingspan 37 - 43mm. The fore-wings are pale with two complete dark bars and one incomplete dark bar.

Habitat

Woodland rides, hedgerows and grasslands. The caterpillars feed on St.John's Worts.

Status and distribution

Common and fairly well distributed throughout Britain. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

May to September.
