Description

Wingspan 20mm. Creamy background colour has slightly darker cross-lines. All four wings have a prominent dark dot, the ones on the fore-wings inside the wavy cross-line, which curves around it.

Habitat

Woodlands and hedgerows. It normally feeds on low herbaceous plants and has been reported on Dandelion and Plantain.

Status and distribution

Common and widely distributed throughout Britain, though not reported from higher ground. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

June to August.
