Puss Moth

Description

Wingspan 70mm. A pale grey moth, finely marked with thin black lines. The wing veins are picked out in a pale golden brown.

Habitat

Woodland, hedgerows and scrubland. The caterpillar feeds on poplars and willows.

Status and distribution

Common and well distributed throughout lowland Britain. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

May to July.
