Description

Wingspan 15 - 24mm. Mostly a pale yellow with reddish-brown markings.

Habitat

Mostly found near its food plants, thistles.

Status and distribution

Common and widely distributed through southern Britain but less common in Scotland where it is restricted to the lowlands. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

June to August.
