Reedmace Bug

Chilacis typhae

Description

Over all length 4 - 5mm. This bug is patterned in shades of brown.

Habitat

Pond edges and lake sides where great reed mace grows. The adults can often be seen on the seed heads.

Status and distribution

Common and widespread in England, less common in the north and west. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

April to September.
