Description
Over all length 4.5 to 6mm. The head is always dark brown to black and the forewings yellow to orange/red.
Habitat
Normally found on Oak where the sap is the main food but they also prey on small insects.
Status and distribution
Fairly common and widespread throughout Britain. Common in Nottinghamshire and recorded once at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best time to see
June to August.
