Campyloneura virgula

Description

Over all length 4 to 5mm. The cuneus is yellow with a red band and black-tip. The head is black, the pronotum is banded brown and the scutellum is yellow. It has very long antennae and hind legs.

Habitat

Most often found in Hazel, Hawthorn and Oak, but uses a range of trees where it hunts other small invertebrates.

Status and distribution

Common and widespread through most of southern Britain but more restricted in the north. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

July to October.
