Orthops basalis
Description
Over all length 5mm. Orthops is a difficult genus with three very similar British species. Often they cannot be separated without microscopic inspection. O. basalis is never green like O. campestris and is longer bodied with more dark markings.
Habitat
Generally found on umbellifers.
Status and distribution
Widely distributed in Britain, but very local. Uncommon in Nottinghamshire and recorded once at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best time to see
All year.
