Notostira elongata

Description

Over all length 7.5 - 8.5mm. The females are coloured to blend with dry grasses, while the males are black on the dorsal surface with green or straw margins. There is a longitudinal groove between the eyes and the pronotum is unpunctured and smooth.

Habitat

Grasslands and grassy hedges. They feed on the flowers and seeds of grasses.

Status and distribution

Common and widespread in southern Britain. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.
