Cymus melanocephalus

Description

Over all length 3 to 4mm. There are three similar species but C. melanocephalus is the only one with a pale central keel on the scutellum.

Habitat

Marshy or damp ground where the food plants of trefoils loosestrifes and rushes grow.

Status and distribution

Fairly common and widespread in the southern half of England. Fairly common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

All year.
