Description
Wingspan 70 - 80mm. The wing colour can vary from greens to pinks and the central dark bar can be continuous or two patches or a small spot.
Habitat
Woodlands and gardens. The caterpillars feed on lime, alder and birch.
Status and distribution
Common and widespread in the south and east of Britain, becoming less common to the west and north. Rare in Scotland. Common and widespread in Nottinghamshire and common at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best time to see
May to July.
