Pea Weevil

Sitona lineatus

Description

Over all length 3 - 5mm. A brown weevil with stripes of lighter and darker shades.

Habitat

They feed on various members of the Pea (Fabaceae) family. They overwinter as adults which can be seen in autumn and spring.

Status and distribution

Widespread in Britain with a bias towards Wales, Cumbria, East Anglia and the south east. Fairly common and widespread in Nottinghamshire and occasional at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

April to August.
