16-spot Ladybird

Description

Over all length 3mm. A cream or buff based ladybird with the spots along the front edges of the elytra often fused.

Habitat

Mainly grasslands where they feed on pollen, nectar and fungi.

Status and distribution

Common and widespread in most of England but sparsely distributed in Wales and almost absent from Scotland. Common and widespread in Nottinghamshire and common at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

April to August/ september.
