Description

Over all length 1.2 to 2mm. The brown elytra are hairy and have a dark central line and the pronotum is also blackish.

Habitat

Coniferous woodland or solitary pines. They feed mainly on aphids on pine trees.

Status and distribution

Fairly common but very local in England, except the West Country. Less commonly found elsewhere. Common in Nottinghamshire and recorded once at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

April to October.
