Hairy Spider Weevil
Barypeithes pellucidus
Description
Over all length 3 to 4mm. A small reddish brown weevil with rows of pits and short hairs on its elytra. The pronotum is also heavily pitted.
Habitat
A broad range of habitats are used, where the larvae are normally associated with Black Medick.
Status and distribution
Common and widespread throughout southern Britain and slightly less so in the northern half. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best time to see
May to June.
