Flea Beetle
Crepidodera fulvicornis
Description
Over all length 2.5 to 3.5mm. Can be a metallic copper, green or blue, often showing greener round the edges. The elytra are punctured in rows and the pronotum is also heavily punctured and has two transverse grooves. The legs are pale and the antennae are pale, darkening towards the tips.
Habitat
Deciduous trees, mainly Willows and Poplars. The adults feed on the leaves and flowers and the larvae develop in the soil, feeding on the roots.
Status and distribution
Common and widespread in England and Wales but more restricted in Scotland towards the south. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best time to see
April to October.
