Figwort Weevil

Cionus tuberculosus

Description

Over all length 4mm. Very similar to C. scrophularius, but the pronotum is not white but has brown patches on either side of it.

Habitat

The adults and larvae feed on figworts.

Status and distribution

Widely distributed across the southern half of Britain. Not common in Nottinghamshire but regular at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

April to October.
