Dead-nettle Leaf Beetle

Chrysolina fastuosa

Description

Over all length 5 - 6mm. A small beetle with a metallic green carapace that shows gold, blue and red.

Habitat

Often close to wetlands and rivers, in herbaceous plants, particularly species of Lamiaceae, such as White Dead Nettle.

Status and distribution

Local but well distributed, can be very common where it does occur. Found at several sites in Nottinghamshire and very common at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

March to December.
