Aplotarsus incanus

Description

Over all length 7 to 10.5mm. A dark, dull, non-shiny species that is normally all blackish with brown legs but can sometimes have brown elytra.

Habitat

Marshy or damp grassland and the edges of ponds, where they feed on grasses and rushes or willows. The larvae feeding on the grass roots.

Status and distribution

Fairly common and widespread throughout Britain, with a bias towards Central England and Wales. Fairly common in Nottinghamshire and recorded at Netherfield Lagoons.
