Ctenichneumon panzer
Description
Body length 12 to 16mm. The female is black with narrow white bands on the abdomen a white scutellum and white bands on the tarsi. The male has the second and third segments red.
Habitat
Woodland edge, hedgerows and meadows. The larvae are endoparasites of moth caterpillars.
Status and distribution
Poorly recorded but with sparse records from the south coast as far north as Yorkshire.
Best time to see
June to July.
