Description

Body length 6.5 - 8mm. Very like N flava and N panzeri, but can be told by looking through a hand lens at the tips of the jaws which are forked.

Habitat

A variety of habitats are used including Scrubby grassland, brown field sites and heathland.

Status and distribution

Common and widespread in southern Britain, scarcer in Scotland. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

April to June.
