Walnut Aphid
Panaphis juglandis
Description
Over all about 3.5mm in length. These yellow aphids are found in clusters on the top surface of Walnut leaves, along the mid-rib. The alate has dark lines across its abdomen and dark veins in the wings.
Habitat
Walnut trees.
Status and distribution
Not often recorded, so the distribution is not clear, but records come from southern and central England. Uncommon in Nottinghamshire but found on walnut trees at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best time to see
June to August.
