Brachycaudus lychnidis

Description

Body length - 2 to 3mm. Shiny black to dark green, crowded together on the tops of the flower stalks. There are two very similar species separated only by microscopic inspection, Brachycaudus lychnidis and B. klugkisti.

Habitat

They feed on Campions.

Status and distribution

Found where Red Campion grows, throughout Britain. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

All year.
