Upcoming public events held at the Netherfield Lagoons Local Nature Reserve, Nottinghamshire.

    CANCELLED DUE TO COVID – Cricket and Grasshopper Walk

    There are Bush-crickets, Grasshoppers and Groundhoppers to be seen in lots of the habitats at the lagoons. Let’s see how many species we can find on the day.

    Come and join us on a bird count. This is a good way for beginners to gain experience and to find out more about the site. Meet at the end of Teal Close, opposite the CEM factory gates, at 07.45 hrs.

    The birds will still include many summer visitors to the site and some winter visitors will be returning and passage birds might be pausing. Lots of insects will be about, including several dragonfly species.

    If you are able to help please come along in the morning. We meet inside the metal gates in the small car park at 09.00hrs. Park on Teal Close and walk along the Ouse Dyke to the footbridge. Follow the Willow Walk and you will arrive at the car park. Please be on time so that we can allocate tools to you. Wear stout shoes and thorn-proof gloves. Remember to follow the social distancing guidelines. Today we will be cutting back brambles beside the steps.

    Most sessions turn up at least sixty species of moth. Meet at the metal gates at the end of Victoria Road (outside Rossi’s) at 20.00hrs. Bring a torch and seat.

    Nottingham Green Festival

    Gedling Conservation Trust will be manning a stall at the festival. If you want to find out more about the Trust or just come and help please come along.
